Treating the Addicted Physician Print E-mail

Paul H. Earley, M.D. specializes in the treatment of physicians who suffer from addictive disease. In his career, he has developed and managed several  treatment program that specialized in addiction among pohysicians.

Physicians who develop addiction have an excellent prognosis of long term recovery; most recovering physicians go on the lead powerful, impactful and grateful lives once they overcome the devastation of their illness.

In  the summer of 2008, Dr. Earley addressed the Oklahoma Board of Medicine and the Oklahoma Impaired Physicians Program about addiction in physicians. His lecture was part of an evening training with Dr. Lanny Anderson and the Oklahoma Impaired Physicians Program. The lecture covers the basics of addiction treatment for physician patients, why physician treatment is different, and how characteristics of the physician's personality complicate treatment.
